Michigan Man Kidnaps Two Women, Drives Around Days With Them In Trunk
A man from Saginaw, Michigan, allegedly kidnapped and hogtied two women, put them in the trunk of his car, and drove around the state for days.
I won't be surprised if we see this story covered on one of those crime TV shows because this story is full of twists and turns and seems like something out of a terrifying movie.
MLive reports that 33-year-old Chad E. Bryant allegedly broke into one of the women's homes, hogtied and bound both of them, and then put them in the trunk of a car he stole from a third woman. According to the report from MLive, Bryant allegedly kept the women in the trunk of the vehicle for a couple days while crossing the borders of several Michigan counties.
Michigan State Police Lieutenant Kimberly Vetter told MLive that authorities believe the women were kidnapped the night of Monday, September 13, or early in the morning of Tuesday, September 14. Bryant allegedly used a knife to stay in control of the two women.
The MSP say that Bryant had been in a relationship with the 38-year-old victim. On Friday, September 17, the 28-year-old woman managed to escape. MSP found the older victim in an abandoned house in Owosso.
Bryant had barricaded himself inside the abandoned house but quickly surrendered to police.
Both women were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released.
WNEM reports that Bryant appeared in court on September 21 and was arraigned on two counts of kidnapping, single counts of first-degree home invasion, felonious assault, assault with intent to do bodily harm, unlawfully driving a motor vehicle, carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, and possession of methamphetamine. If convicted, the kidnapping offense is life in prison.
