Meet Ford’s New Four-Legged Robots, Fluffy & Spot [VIDEO]

Ford Motor Company has unleashed a couple of new four-legged robots and of course they've named them "Fluffy' and 'Spot.'

They're cute, but not furry and cuddly. Signs near the robot dog's heads indicates that they are service dogs and petting is not permitted.

These four-legged robots or 'Robodogs' as they're being called are the newest additions to Ford's manufacturing pilot program designed to save time, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.

The robots are being deployed at the company's Van Dyke Transmission plant early next month. In the video below, Mark Goderis, Ford's Digital Engineering Manager explains that the new robots will be performing scans of the plant.

"We're using it to do laser scans of our facility," Goderis said. "That image is then utilized by our engineers to develop new vehicle programs and it allows them to develop a more accurate layout of our facilities."

Goderis went on to say that the robodogs will allow Ford to retool facilities faster and bring new vehicles to customers faster while saving money.

The robots are being deployed at the company's Van Dyke Transmission plant early next month.
