If you were looking at eating healthy, this may not be the proper time to start your diet. The Center for Disease Control, just released a massive recall that is effecting parts of Michigan, as well as Ohio.

Before you grab for those veggies, verify you're not effected.

Massive Vegetable Recall Effecting Michigan

Over 162 people across 25 states have wound up sick, while an additional 54 were hospitalized due to a salmonella outbreak that was linked back to cucumbers.

A bulk of the recall, does effect cucumbers that were shipped in bulk cartons from May 17 to May 21st of 2024. Michigan was not actually apart of the original shipment, but that doesn't mean that sellers didn't ship them to the state.

It is still unsure at this time if the salmonella that was found with the cucumbers is actually making people sick. It could take up to 3 or 4 weeks to identify if the cucumbers and salmonella outbreaks are truly linked together.

At this time, the effected cucumbers should no longer be in stores, and if you are interested in purchasing some, you shouldn't be discouraged to. The English cucumbers, as well as mini, were not the ones that were connected to the breakout hitting Michigan and parts of Ohio.
