The second we heard that Lorde was covering a mid-'80s Tears for Fears classic on the new 'Hunger Games' movie soundtrack, we couldn't wait to hear what she'd do with it. Well, here it is!

The 16-year-old New Zealand songstress puts a very Lorde twist on the U.K. band's 1985 No. 1 single, 'Everybody Wants to Rule the World.' The original's light, sing-songy sound is supplanted by sparse orchestration and a haunting mood much more befitting the dark themes in the upcoming 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' film, in theaters Nov. 22.

Regardless of the track's sound, the song's lyrics have never been particularly cheerful, according to Tears for Fears' Curt Smith. "The concept is quite serious -- it's about everybody wanting power, about warfare and the misery it causes," he was quoted as saying.

Themes that are right up Lorde's alley! You can listen to her version of the entire song here. The 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' soundtrack is out Nov. 19.
