The storms we received last night and early this morning did some serious damage. Not only were they scary to listen to (yes, I still get scared of thunder SOMETIMES!) but in Portland they most likely caused a devastating house fire.

The woman who lives in the house, said she heard a loud crash of thunder around 5:00am and then immediately smelled smoke. At least four fire departments responded to help put out the blaze. For those of you familiar with Portland, the fire happened at Grand River and Union St, right by West Side party store.

Homes can be rebuilt but lives that are lost cannot be replaced. Thank goodness the woman who lived there was able to escape unharmed.
