Last RadioShack in Lansing-Area Closing Soon
If you have never shopped at or have been RadioShack you may never be able to check it out as the last one in the Lansing-Area is closing soon. This is according to the Lansing State Journal, as they have said that the last remaining Radio Shack in the Lansing-Area, located in St. Johns, will be closed at the end of the month.
The store isn't called RadioShack as the owner Jim Sytsma changed the name to Clinton electronics when he bought the store in 1981. Even with the name change the store has sold every kind of electronic, from boom boxes and Walkman's to VCR machines and stereo systems. The store has been a mainstay in downtown St. Johns for the last four decades, but Stysma has made the decision to close it down at the end of the month.
The business was opened in 1977 by a former owner and Sytsma began working there just months later as a manager, and then as a supervisor before buying the store in 1981. You can find Clinton Electronics on the 200 block of North Clinton Ave in St. Johns. More on the store here.
