If you needed a little reminder that Michigan Lottery luck can strike anywhere, here is a pretty incredible example out of Michigan.

How The Lansing Woman Won The Lucky For Life Prize

A Lansing woman is now celebrating a life-changing win after hitting a $25,000-a-year-for-life prize playing the Michigan Lottery's Lucky For Life game.

According to the Michigan Lottery, 67-year-old Kath Forquer bought the winning ticket while she was visiting family in Mount Pleasant. The ticket came from Borders Corner Store on East Pickard Road, which apparently has developed a bit of a reputation for selling winning tickets.

Where The Winning Michigan Lottery Ticket Was Bought

Fouqer said she's a regular Lucky For Life Player, but this time the routine ticket check turned into something bigger.

She checked the ticket early the next morning after the drawing and instantly knew something big had happened.

In fact, she joked that when she realized she'd won, it felt like she may have been having a heart attack, because her heart was pounding so hard.

Why Borders Corner Store Has Become A Lucky Lottery Spot

Players who win this prize normally receive $25,000 every year for life, or at least 20 years, but Forquer decided to go a different route. Instead of the annual payments, she opted to take a one-time lump sum payout of about $390,000.

And if you're wondering about that store in Mount PLeasant, it's been suprisingly lucky for lottery players over the past few years. Lottery officials say Borders Corner Store has sold several big prizes worth more than $100,000 since 2023.
