Calling all Kombucha lovers! You need to check these places out if you've never been before. I'm not going to lie, it took me a few tries to really get into kombucha. But when I found one I liked, I was hooked.

Apple Blossom Kombucha

3415 E. Saginaw St. Suite A, Lansing

You may have seen Apple Blossom Kombucha bottles for sale in area stores. Well, owner and only employee, Caley Gunthrope, recently opened Apple Blossom Kombucha taproom in December. The taproom is open 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Follow the taproom on Facebook for all of the latest updates!

Reputation Beverage Company

116 N Bridge St., Dewitt

Reputation Beverage Co. has tons of flavors to try if you're just starting out! One of my favorite flavors is their Cran-Orange Kombucha. If you want to try several different flavors, you can build your own 4-pack sampler!

So what is Kombucha? It's an ancient Chinese drink that's brewed with something called a SCOBY, which is basically a disc of yeast and bacteria. I know, it sounds kind of gross but I swear kombucha is great stuff. You place the SCOBY in the sweetened tea and leave it to ferment for a few weeks at room temperature and then bottle it for 1-2 weeks. Once the bottling process is over, you then refrigerate it to slow the carbonation and fermentation process.

You're probably wondering why people drink it. Kombucha contains vitamins and amino acids, so it has a lot of health benefits. I'm someone who has a few dietary restrictions and whenever my gut is feeling off, a bottle of kombucha always helps.

I will admit, I've had kombucha I wasn't a fan of. But when you find the right one, you'll fall in love. They say you have to try things 10-15 times to really decide on whether or not you like it.
