Rian Johnson’s new film Knives Out just made its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, but Johnson is already making it clear he might return to this film and its eclectic detective character, played by Daniel Craig. In an interview with UPROXX, Johnson confirmed he was very into the idea of more Knives Out movies with Craig as Detective Benoit Blanc.

Here’s exactly what he said:

I’ll tell you, the truth is I had such a great time working with Daniel Craig and I had so much fun doing this on every level, from writing it to making it. I’ve never really been interested in doing sequels, but this, the idea of doing more of these with Daniel as his character, is not sequels. It’s just what Agatha Christie did. It’s just coming up with a whole new mystery, a whole new location, all new cast, whole new mechanics of the appeal of a mystery and everything.

While Johnson says he’s not interested in making sequels under normal circumstances, he did just make one sequel (a small indie titled Star Wars: The Last Jedi) and depending on your definition of “sequel” he’s also working on another (more Star Wars movies, although he refused to give UPROXX any details about the films). Knives Out got great reviews out of TIFF, with most critics raving about its surprising mystery, suspenseful screenplay, and outstanding cast. If audiences show up for the film, it seems like a sequel could happen. We’ll find out when Knives Out opens in theaters on November 27.
