Why You’re Suddenly Seeing So Many Spiders in Michigan

If you’ve noticed an overwhelming number of spiders and webs in and around your house lately, trust me, you’re not the only one.

Honestly, I probably wouldn’t have even noticed if my wife wasn’t constantly yelling for me to kill them. After about a dozen panicked screams, I finally started wondering what was going on.

Not only were spiders taking over the inside of the house, but we also started seeing webs popping up all around the outside, too.

Why You’re Seeing So Many Spiders in Michigan Right Now

Turns out, Michigan isn’t suddenly crawling with extra spiders, and they’re definitely not plotting to storm your bedroom. It’s simply spider season. Yeah, I didn't know that was a thing either.

Apparently, late summer into early fall is when male spiders come out of hiding to look for a mate. So if it feels like they’re everywhere, it’s because they’re basically out there looking to get frisky.

So while it may seem like they’re everywhere, they’re really just out there trying to swipe right on the eight-legged Tinder of nature. Odds are, they’re too busy trying to impress a lady spider to care about what’s going on inside your house. Of course, my wife doesn’t buy that. Every spider she spots is obviously plotting a home invasion in her mind.

According to WDIV, experts say less than 5% of the spiders you see inside your house have ever set foot outdoors. That means most of them were born and raised right there with you. That's not very comforting.
