Summer is here, school is out, and hot temps are in. So when the kids start begging to go swimming, we've got you covered. From splash pads to pools to water parks, the greater Lansing area is dotted with places where you can cool off in the water.

From Grand Ledge to East Lansing, and from Owosso to Jackson, there are plenty of places where you can go swimming. And for those of you with really little ones, perhaps the big swimming pools and water parks are a bit much for the kiddos, splash pads are the way to go. And what's even better, for those with kids or people simply on a budget, all these water spots are fairly inexpensive or free.

Hawk Island Splash Pad in Lansing

The splash pad is free once you pay for parking, which is $3 per vehicle for Ingham County residents, and $5 for nonresidents. It's open daily from 9 am to 8 pm, weather permitting.

East Lansing Family Aquatic Center in East Lansing

What's cool about the East Lansing Family Aquatic Center is that it just had updates made last year, and they have something for people of all ages. There are multiple big and small water slides, a diving board, a splash park, water-play structures, and more.

Hunter Pool and Splash Pad in Lansing

Hunter Pool and Splash Pad are free water spots, making it the perfect budget-friendly place to take a dip.

GL Splashpad at Jaycee Park in Grand Ledge

The Splashpad at Jaycee Park in Grand Ledge is another free spot. It's open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, 7 days a week from 10 am to 8 pm.

Nixon Water Park in Jackson

The Nixon Water Park is open this season now through August 10th. It's open Monday through Saturday with two different time slots. 11 am to 3 pm, which is $5 per person; and 3:30 - 6:30 pm, which is $4 per person.

St Johns Spray Park in St Johns

This is another free splash pad for the little ones. It's open now through Labor Day, daily from 10 am to 8 pm.

Splash Pad at The Cascades in Jackson

There are more than a dozen water features for the littles to enjoy here. And cost of admission is inexpensive; free to $4.

William Toan Park Splash Pad in Portland

It is completely free to use this splash pad. It's open now through Labor Day, 7 days a week from 10 am to 8 pm.

Bentley Park Splash Pad in Owosso

This is another free splash pad for the kiddos, which is open until Labor Day.
