While the coffee shop has been in the works since 2023, it just opened its doors on March 20, 2026. Owner Angela Risk has spent years transforming what was previously a small auto repair shop into what is now Okemos Coffee Shop.

From Auto Shop to Coffee Destination

The space used to look "very death-trappy" according to Risk, but it looks much different now. There are bright colors everywhere, lots of natural light, and a giant disco ball that was purchased from the MSU Surplus Store.

Located at 1732 Hamilton Road, Okemos Coffee Shop serves up all the usual suspects you'd expect from a coffee shop: brewed coffee, lattes, iced coffee, refreshers, and more. There are also some pastries and sweets that are available for purchase.

Plus, the shop focuses on community — featuring art, jewelry, and more from local artisans available for purchase and lots of space to connect with friends.
