Lansing's restaurant scene is about to grow again this year. This time, we're seeing a former restaurant space get new life.

Six months ago, Bordeaux inside the Crowne Plaza Lansing hotel closed. Before it closed, it had offered upscale dining for 11 years

Now, we'll see new restaurant Kindred Table take Bordeaux's place on December 13.

New Lansing Restaurants

Kindred Table hopes to be a welcoming space, treating people to the best hospitality, food, and drink they can offer.

I had the chance to speak with Kindred Table's Executive Chef Stephney Florek, and she said that we can expect to see a little bit of something for everyone on the menu. To help achieve that, there are vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options on the menu.

Kindred Table will also be serving up breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with drinks and desserts.

Chef Recommendations

With a menu like that, I asked Chef Stephney for some recommendations.

  • Appetizer: smoked wings, which are "brined and smoked in-house, served with house-made sauces"
  • Handheld: vegan barbacoa tacos
  • Entrée: surf & turf
  • Dessert: chocolate pistachio bumpy cake (it's six layers high and she gave this dish a literal "chef's kiss")

As far as drinks are concerned, the chef couldn't choose just one, but did mention that they are particularly proud of their mocktails and zero proof spirits. They want to make sure that people feel included, whether they're drinking alcohol or not.

While we talked a lot about the food and drink itself, Chef Stephney made it clear that the mission of Kindred Table was hospitality focused. "We want people to feel seen, heard, and cared for here. We want people to feel like they are at our own table having dinner at our home."

When and Where is Kindred Table Opening?

If you're excited to try this new restaurant in Lansing, it opens inside the Crowne Plaza Lansing at 925 S. Creyts Road on Saturday, December 13.

Non-Chain Lansing Restaurants That Are Open on Mondays

It wasn't so long ago that most restaurants were open seven days a week. Ever since COVID, a lot of places have taken to closing on Mondays - but not everyone. Here are 21 Lansing-area non-chain restaurants that are actually still open on Monday. (There are others that may not be included on this list.)

Lansing Restaurants That Should Be Featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives

The Lansing restaurants listed below are gems of the city. If you haven't been to all of them yet, add them to your list. We think Guy Fieri should add them to his list as well so he can feature them the next time he comes back to Lansing for Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
