If you're considering going to community college for whatever reason, as a Michigander, you're in luck because Michigan ranks pretty well when it comes to community colleges.

Best and Worst Community Colleges

WalletHub did its magic once again and looked into what makes a good community college system, and then ranked the states from best to worst.

To determine which systems were the best and the worst, WalletHub first did an analysis of "2023's Best & Worst Community Colleges", which looked at 19 key metrics across 668 different community colleges. Some of those metrics included cost and financing; education outcomes; and career outcomes.

They then "calculated a weighted average of the scores earned by the community colleges in each state and the number of students enrolled in each school."

After all of this analysis, Michigan faired pretty well on the overall list.

Michigan Ranks Well For One of the Best Community College Systems in America

Compared to the other states, Michigan ranks 13th overall for having one of the best community college systems in America.

Michigan is outranked by these other states:

  1. New Mexico
  2. Connecticut
  3. Maryland
  4. Oregon
  5. Minnesota
  6. Washington
  7. Wyoming
  8. South Dakota
  9. Colorado
  10. Wisconsin
  11. North Dakota
  12. Iowa
