There are a few things that almost all Michiganders seem to love. One of those things is the card game Euchre.

Euchre is a very niche game played predominantly in the Midwest, and more specifically in Michigan. It's you and your partner against another team of partners, and you go back and forth following suits of cards and trying to take tricks. The team with the most tricks at the end of a hand, wins.

Recently, it seems that Euchre is at the center of a Michigan rumor.

One TikTok user, @kathollerbach, recently made a video talking about Euchre and how it's supposedly the '4th leading cause of divorce in Michigan'.

I heard that and I immediately had questions, the first being: where are you getting this information from?

In the video, Kat is a little bit tongue in cheek, saying things like, "I cannot imagine thinking I love someone and then one day they call a Farmer's Hand", basically chastising anyone who might call a Farmer's Hand. She also says she's for 'Screw the Dealer' (the dealer must call suit regardless of what's in their hand) but she's against 'Steal the Deal' (when someone intentionally tries to steal your deal and your advantage for the hand).

All that cheeky banter made me question her statement's validity. So, I went in search of the truth, and here's what I found:

In fact, a card game doesn't seem to be anywhere even the top five reasons. The Rubinstein Law Firm lists lack of love or intimacy; communication problems; not enough sympathy, respect, or trust; and growing apart as the top four reasons for divorce.
