End of an Era: Lansing’s 2025 Restaurant Closures You Should Know About

Lansing has had a mix of restaurant openings and closings. Here's a look at what has closed in 2025.

BlackDog Coffee

BlackDog Coffee was located in Eaton Rapids and closed in mid-February. That location is now home to Foster Coffee.

Eato Chef

Eato Chef was a popular Lansing food truck that was set up in the Horrocks parking lot. Eato Chef moved to Florida near the end of March.

Blimpie - Lansing

After over 50 years, this sub shop closed in April.

Sir Pizza - Lansing

The location on south Cedar Street closed on April 5.

Handie - East Lansing

Formerly a fast-casual eatery that served African-infused wraps. It closed in April.

Hong Kong Restaurant - Lansing

This restaurant was located inside the Rathbun Accelerator Kitchen at Allen Neighborhood Center for about two years before it closed mid-May.

Aldaco's Taco Bar - Lansing

This restaurant closed on May 18th after over a decade in business.

No Thai! - East Lansing

No Thai! had its Downtown East Lansing location for more than 13 years. It closed in May.

SaltRock Brewing CO. - Lansing

This restaurant closed on May 30, less than a year after opening.

Slice by Saddleback - Delta Township

The original location in west Lansing closed on May 23.

Kilkenny's Irish Fish 'N Chips

Kilkenny's Irish Fish 'N Chip was located in St. Johns and closed on May 30.

Bobcat Bonnie's - Lansing

This restaurant closed in early June after allegations of bad checks to employees. The remainder of the other Bobcat Bonnie's locations in Michigan closed too.

The Green Door - Lansing

The Green Door, one of Lansing's most beloved bars and live music venues, closed June 28.

Spagnuolo's Restaurant - Okemos

This restaurant closed in July after 34 years in business.

Z!Eats (formerly Zoup!) - Downtown Lansing

This eatery closed abruptly in late July. Now, another local cafe and bakery has taken over that space.

Starbucks - East Lansing

This was the original East Lansing location. It closed on August 31 after over 25 years.

Papa John's Pizza - Lansing

This locally owned and operated pizza place had been in business for over 40 years before it closed suddenly in September.

Tantay Peruvian Cuisine - Okemos

The announcement of the closure came at the end of September. Sadly, owner Jose Aste suffered from a medical emergency in June and was not able to continue the business.

Sweet Encounter Bakery & Cafe storefront - Lansing

Sweet Encounter Bakery & Cafe is still operating — but since August 2, they no longer accept walk-in traffic. They moved to an e-commerce model only on August 2. You order online and pick up in the store.

Yeti Kitchen - Lansing

Formerly located inside Lansing Shuffle, this eatery closed on November 2.

Capo's Cheesesteak Hoagies & Grill - East Lansing

Closed earlier in 2025.
