It's Michigan. We know it's going to snow eventually, we just don't necessarily know when.

Historically speaking, some Michigan cities have seen snow as early as September - but that didn't happen in 2024. There could be a few stray flakes in some parts of the Mitten State during October, but forecasters don't think it'll amount to anything we'd refer to as the season's first snow.

We consulted the long-range forecasts from AccuWeather to determine when cities all around the state could expect to see their first snowfalls of the 2024-25 season.

We made sure every part of the state was represented - from the far western reaches of the Upper Peninsula, to the bridge, all across rural Northern Michigan, and throughout the more densely populated central and southern parts of the state.

We ignored any forecast days when AccuWeather predicted there might be a rain/snow mix in any given city. We looked for the first days in each city when all the precipitation that was expected to fall from the sky was expected to be nothing but snow.

A couple Upper Peninsula cities getting snow before anyone else didn't really come as much of a surprise.

We learned that some cities could be in for a hazardous Thanksgiving weekend. Most cities will see their first snowfalls of the season during November, but there's one that might not see any flakes until December.
