Around Lansing This Weekend: Parades, Fireworks, Markets & More
It's Memorial Day Weekend! Take time to remember those who gave their lives to make this the land of the free and the home of the brave. We're able to enjoy events like the ones below because of their sacrifice.
Here are some of the things happening around Lansing and Mid-Michigan from May 25-29, 2023.
Cruise In & Concert
Head to downtown Jackson on Friday evening (5/26) for a Cruise In & Concert. This event is held throughout the summer on the 4th Friday of each month. Classic cars line the streets of downtown and there'll be a free concert at Horace Blackman Park.
Market on the Grand
From 9am to 1pm this Saturday (5/27) and every Saturday throughout the summer, Grand Ledge hosts its weekly Market on the Grand. Farmers, artisans and other vendors offer their wares along the riverfront.
Vintage & Artisan Pop-up Market
Look for a Vintage & Artisan Pop-up Market next to Grave Danger on Turner Street in Lansing's Old Town this Saturday (5/27) from 10am to 4pm. More than a dozen vendors will be on hand with "vintage clothing, handmade goods, jewelry, comics, toys, collectibles and more!"
Fireworks at Cascade Falls Park
A big Memorial Day Weekend fireworks show is planned at Cascade Falls Park in Jackson on Saturday night (5/27) at dusk.
Public Observing at MSU Observatory
The Michigan State Observatory will offer public observing through its powerful telescopes on Saturday night (5/27) from 9:30pm to 11:30pm. This free event allows a closer look at the heavens than most of us have ever seen. No reservations are required.
Fireworks at Frankenmuth
If you don't mind a little drive, the Frankenmuth Dog Bowl is this weekend (5/27 and 5/28) at the River Place Shops on Main Street in Frankenmuth. It bills itself as the "world’s largest Olympic-style festival for dogs" and features dock and disc dog competitions, sheep herding demonstrations, wiener dog races and much more. A free fireworks show will cap off the evening on Sunday.
Spring Arbor Memorial Day Parade
The annual Spring Arbor Memorial Day Parade starts at 1pm on Monday (5/29). The day's events also include a memorial service, family games and other activities.
Holt Memorial Day Parade
Honor the men and women who gave their lives for our country on Monday (5/29) at 2pm with a Memorial Day Parade in Holt. Sponsored by the Buck-Reasoner Post 238 American Legion of Holt, lineup for the parade will start at 1pm directly across from Legg’s Lumber, then head west down Holt Road to Aurelius Road, then north with its final destination at the Delhi Veterans Memorial Gardens.
