The 2025 Michigan whitetail deer season has officially closed, following the end of extended archery on January 31, 2026. Considering it kicked off with the Liberty Hunt on September 13, 2025, there are over four months of hunter-reported harvests to look at, including an 83-county raw breakdown of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) summary to date (see alphabetical listings below).

Some may still be tracking or have yet to log on to the DNR site or app to report their harvest. The DNR first made online harvest reports mandatory in the fall of 2022. Ever since, tag holders have 72 hours to report their harvest or face a $150 fine.
Early Harvest Totals and Comparison to 2024
This early look shows the season right on par with the 2024 harvest report, though the DNR would later update those numbers by nearly 75,000. The early numbers show a total harvest of 295,739 in 2025, just shy of 2024's 299,492.

These numbers also show an early-season case of buck fever in Michigan, with the harvest later balancing out at just about 53% of the season total being antlered.
