The Grim Reaper of Retail is back for yet another 3 months, slinging masks, costumes, and animatronic displays across the Lansing, Michigan area. Halloween enthusiasts rejoice! Unsurprisingly, Spirit Halloween—the avatar of retail death—is returning to the same Lansing locations it occupied last year.

Sure, staying in the same spot as 2024 makes return trips easy and saves your GPS some effort. But, and you knew one was coming, this isn't a good sign for brick and mortar retail growth in the Capitol City.
Where Spirit Halloween Is Returning in 2025
For the 2025 season, you'll find Spirit Halloween on Saginaw Highway, in the Lansing Mall, right next to Men's Warehouse. This location was, up until September 2021, a TJ Maxx. Spirit Halloween has been here before, and many of their posters remain throughout the year.
The other Lansing store, located at 446 Edgewood Blvd., has been haunting this former Office Max long enough that it has its own Google Street View image, circa 2023.
Retail Vacancies Give Spirit Halloween Staying Power
Landlords may be thrilled with short-term tenants, but the fact that once-prime retail space sits vacant long enough for repeat Spirit Halloween visits is disheartening.

Kudos to Spirit Halloween, however, who offers a "kickout clause" in their leases, should the landlord find a permanent tenant.
A New Haunt: Okemos’ Meridian Mall Location
There is another Spirit Halloween in the Lansing area, and it is in a new location. The Okemos store, previously in the same plaza as Target (occupying the former Davids Bridal), has relocated across the street to the Meridian Mall, into the old Schuler Books location, next to the new Schuler Books location (formerly Bed Bath & Beyond).
