Michigan Comic Jeff Arcuri Cracks Netflix Top 5
Michigan has produced cars, cherries, and people who believe a snow brush should come as standard equipment. Now add Netflix chart-climbing Monroe, Michigan, native and stand-up comedian Jeff Arcuri to the list.

Arcuri's debut full-length special, Nice to Meet You, arrived July 7 and climbed (so far) to as high as No. 4 on Netflix's U.S. TV chart. The hour blends the rapid-fire crowd work that made him a social media favorite with stories about marriage, family, internet trolls, and helping his wife, The Bachelorette alum Katie Thurston, laugh during her battle with cancer.
Jeff Arcuri’s Michigan Comedy Roots
Before the Netflix logo and worldwide tour dates, Arcuri was a Monroe kid stepping onto a Michigan stage. According to Funny Business, his comedy career began after taking a class at Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle in Royal Oak in 2010. A few weeks later, he entered into a comedy competition, performed for his first real audience, and immediately knew that comedy was what he wanted to do.

It was shortly after this that I met Arcuri, working an open mic night at Connxtions Comedy Club in Lansing. We would later share the stage at a couple of "one-nighters" at bars on the east side of the state, and I can tell you that the Jeff Arcuri I met then still comes across in his Netflix special.
After leaving Michigan for Chicago, Arcuri became a regular at Zainies, Laugh Factory, and Comedy Bar. Years of club work eventually met the internet, where his relatable, lightning-fast crowd work collected millions of views.
More Than Viral Crowd Work

The special is not an hour of waiting for somebody in the front row to confess something regrettable (although that does happen). There's plenty of written material, storytelling, and a surprisingly tender center.
