The Hauntings in Tower Cemetery, Vanderbilt
This allegedly haunted cemetery is located near Vanderbilt in Otsego County.
It’s a small cemetery with only a few graves, but some who have entered think this is more haunted than usual. It goes by a few different names: Fox Tower Cemetery, Hudson Cemetery, Hudson Township Cemetery, and Tower Cemetery. No matter the name, the rumors of paranormal activity do exist.
The graveyard was established in 1879, giving the dead plenty of time to determine whether they want to haunt the place or not. Supposedly, they do. Visitors claim the air gets significantly colder when you pass through the gate. Human apparitions have been seen and the sound of footsteps come from nowhere during the night.

Here are some eyewitness accounts:
“We could tell we were the only ones that had been there in a while. No tire tracks and no footprints in the snow. So, when we did see small child sized footprints around the top and back of the hill, they stood out.....child sized footprints, near children’s graves, in a location where footsteps have been heard.”
“My team used a spirit box to hopefully contact a spirit. We asked, "What is your name?" The response: "My name is Jeff." Later on, we asked "What is wrong?" We heard faintly "Too many people" and "You don't understand." As we were leaving, we said that we will be back and could hear crystal clear 'Great News'."
“As you sit there at night you will see a little girl in a white dress.”
“The graves are mostly that of children.....When we left, it felt as though we were being chased. The last person out said, "Hey, don't push me!!" We figured out he was the last and no one pushed him.”
Curious enough to pay a visit at midnight? As always, when visiting graveyards, be respectful, don't vandalize and don't disturb any neighbors. Don't ruin it for others - or yourself - who may want to visit in the future.
