In a previous article, I mentioned the ghost town of Burdickville, which would be a cool little place to stop for a few moments. But also near former Burdickville there used to be a place where plenty of travelers used to stop.....but no more.

It’s the site of the old Glen Lake Trading Post, located at 9090 S. Dunns Farm Road on the south end of Glen Lake.

Researching old newspaper ads, it seems the post operated from 1951 thru 1977.....could be more.

The description on back of a postcard reads:
“On south shore of Glen Lake. Complete line of meats, groceries, and imported foods, soda bar, open stock of beautiful slipware pottery. For convenience in shopping by boat, we maintain a dock on lakeshore. We wish to make your vacation a pleasant one.”

The postcard also gives two locations: the defunct Burdickville and Maple City, which is five miles east of the trading post. Couldn't make up their minds.

The trading post no longer exists, and the structure has been turned into a residence.

Take a look at a few photos below, showing what it looked like before and after...
