This incredible stone house sits out in the countryside along a busy highway somewhere near Cadillac, close to Missaukee County, and was discovered by sheer luck.

The stone structure seems to remain in good shape, but looking at the porch, the wooden roof has given way to the elements. This land was definitely once a farm, with a couple of barns, garage, apple trees, and rose bushes. Maybe a currant bush? Not sure. To the right of the house is an overgrown raspberry patch that is in serious need of weeding.

This house could be made into a decent residence once again if someone had the patience and determination to get it restored. Sure, it’s cool, people usually “ooh” and “aah” when they explore these, wondering what it was like living there. Only one way to find out, right? Buy one of these empty homes and fix it up, as so many other Michiganders have done. You can always turn it around and re-sell.

Plenty of land, plenty of lawn, enough trees, outbuildings…..and the outside of the house is astounding.

The person who took these images respected the property and did not enter. Even though it looks definitely deserted and empty, it appears to be privately owned, as part of the lawn is mowed. Keep that in mind next time you come across this or any one of these former homes in Michigan’s countryside.
