Then and Now: Jackson’s Cascades Falls, 1932-2020s
The construction of the Cascades Falls in Jackson took place way back in the early 1930s, opening in 1932. The park was “the result of William Sparks’ dream to do something for the people of Jackson and to build an attraction that would provide visitors with a positive impression of the city.”
When the Cascades Falls are at peak performance, they are a beautiful sight, to be sure: the water flows & squirts, the colors dance and the music plays. And during wintertime, the area is a perfect place for sledding and snowboarding.
In those off-season times when the concrete pools are empty, there are no flashing colors and no familiar tunes blaring from the speakers.,,,,but the grounds are still pretty impressive.

Now in the mid-2020s, the Cascades are in need of reparations. The pumps need replacing, there are numerous cracks in the concrete...a few paint touch-ups wouldn't hurt, either. The total cost to fix up the Jackson landmark will take a few million dollars...maybe.
The photo gallery below shows the Cascades when it was being constructed in the early 1930s along with modern photos from the 2000s...
