These 20 Michigan Cities Reported the Most Crime
A new analysis from Compare the Market looked at FBI crime data across Michigan cities, ranking them by total reported offenses, including crimes against persons, crimes against property, and crimes against society.

Because nothing says "fun" like diving into a crime report, this buffet of bad decisions, unfortunate events, and police paperwork is built around total crimes and shouldn't serve as a postcard for each city listed.
Detroit Leads Michigan In Reported Offenses
Based on the Compare the Market study, which looked at crimes reported from 2019 through the beginning of 2025, Detroit finished at the top of Michigan's list with 83,625 total reported offenses. Of those 29,170, were crimes against persons, 49,971 were crimes against property, and 4,484 were crimes against society.

That property crime number is the big, blazing red flag here. Nearly 50,000 reported property offenses mean stuff was missing or damaged, or that someone started their day by saying, "I swear I parked right here..."
What Michigan Crime Stats Actually Show
The important thing here is context. Bigger cities, like Detroit, often produce bigger totals because, shockingly, places with more people tend to have more incidents.
