If You Just Ate McDonald’s In Michigan, You Could Have E. Coli
It’s always important to know when there is a recall on products, especially when they are food products and they have the potential to spread hazardous diseases.
McDonald’s recently announced that there is an E. Coli outbreak that has been linked back to a product that is shipped to them from US foods and in particular it pertains to Taylor Farms, yellow jumbo peeled onions, diced onions, whole peeled onions, and 3/8 inch yellow diced onions.
US Foods has urged people to stop using the affected product as soon as possible, according to a report brought out by wxyz.com. luckily so far in Michigan, there has been no report of illness, but it is very possible that the same onions have been used in menu items in Michigan McDonald’s.
Out of safety, monitor symptoms 3 to 4 days after you’ve eaten anything that may contain the affected products. If you are feeling unwell, make sure to seek medical attention and report the illness. Here's what they've already reported in illnesses, and what products are not at risk for E. Coli:
Other McDonald's products, including the Big Mac and McDouble, are not affected, the company said. The illnesses have been reported in Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Quarter Pounders contain raw sliced onions, while the Big Mac has cooked minced onions. Health officials say cooking onions to 160 degrees eliminates contamination.
