Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan is a powerhouse in NCAA Div. II football. They've won 63 of their past 69 games, and won Back-to-Back National Championships in 2021 and 2022. They also hold the best overall record of ANY collegiate program in the state of Michigan, and have since 2012.

So the hype around football at Ferris State is the real deal, and NOW, students who attend Ferris State will have the opportunity to watch such dominance on the field, from the comfort of their own dorm rooms.

Announced this week, Ferris State University is building a new dormitory at the north endzone of Top Taggart Field, and students lucky enough to get rooms on the south side of the building will literally overlook the field.

The building doesn't have a name yet, in fact, it's yet to even break ground, but designers, and engineers say it will have ground-floor common space that can be shared by most of the public during game days. However, the nearly 300 beds on the upper floors are only for the residents of the dorm, and their guests.

Students who are lucky enough to have rooms on south side of the building will face right into the stadium, and it's not just limited to student athletes. It's open for any student at the University.

University President Bill Pink said this new building is just the first in a major plan to upgrade living spaces, and athletic facilities on campus.

"We are creating an unmatched student experience in our residence halls to accompany the work we've done in our classrooms. This will be a State-of-the-art facility with all the modern conveniences students today are looking for, with the added benefit of being attached to an entertainment complex that will host events throughout the year. These students will truly have the best seat in the house."

Groundbreaking for the new dorm building is expected in the Spring of 2025 with plans for it to be open for students to move in by August of 2026.
