Midland, Michigan native Kimberly Dinh won the 36th U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur golf championship on Thursday at Stonewall CC (North Course) in Elverson, PA.

She defeated 2017 Mid-Am champion Kelsey Chugg in the 18-hole final match, 2-up to win her first U.S. Mid-Am title.

Dinh was 3 down with seven holes to play before she won six of the last seven holes to win the title.

Kimberly, who's 25 years old, played her collegiate golf at Wisconsin.  And is currently employed at Dow Chemical in Midland.

With the victory, Dinh qualifies for next year's U.S. Women's Open.  And is now exempt for the next 10 U.S. Mid-Amateurs, and the next two U.S. Amateur championships.

She lost in the Michigan Amateur semifinals this summer, but won the Michigan Am in 2021.  Kimberly also has won a a pair of Michigan Mid-Am titles.  And she played in the LPGA Dow Great Lakes Invitational in Midland, MI.

Dinh said that while she's happy with the victory, she's got more important things on her mind for Friday:

“I have a presentation I have to give tomorrow so I have to at least dial in for that, and then we'll figure out what the rest of the day looks like.”

The Mid-Am is for eligible amateur golfers who are 25 years old or older.
