Muskegon Man’s $100 Win Turns into Surprise $300,000 Jackpot
Everyone who takes the time to play the Michigan Lottery is dreaming of the day they'll (hopefully) win a jackpot, but one Muskegon man couldn't have dreamed of it happening the way it did for him.
A 64-year-old anonymous man from Muskegon recently purchased a Michigan Lottery Fire and Ice Cashword ticket from the Northshore E-Z Mart at 1385 Holton Road, hoping to hit it big.
He scratched his ticket- and what do you know, he was a winner! The man said he was excited to see what he thought was a win for $100, and scanned his ticket online only to see a "bring to the lottery office to redeem" message, which left him puzzled. He gave the ticket to his son, who then scanned it and was excited to tell him he was way off- he'd actually won the $300,000 jackpot.
According to the release from the Michigan Lottery, when they scanned his ticket, the clerk was happy to inform him that he was very wrong. He hadn't won $100, but instead he had hit the jackpot of $300,000.

The man says he plans to pay off his truck, bills, and to save the rest for a comfortable retirement. I'm just glad he scanned that ticket and checked- can you imagine missing out on $299,000? Incredible! The Michigan Lottery says that players have won more than $20 million playing Fire & Ice Cashword, which launched in August 2023.
