Michigan Spot Voted No. 1 Location to See Spectacular Fall Colors in U.S.
Soon enough Michigan's incredible fall colors will be on display. While there are plenty of amazing spots to check out the changing leaves in the Mitten State, one is getting national recognition for its spectacular fall foliage!

In a new USA Today 10best poll, twenty destinations were chosen by experts as ideal spots for leaf peeping in the U.S. It was then put up to a public vote to determine the top ten.
In a similar poll last year, Michigan's Tahquamenon Falls State Park was voted the No. 2 spot for fall foliage in the U.S.
This time the entire Upper Peninsula was up for the honor - and it's been voted No. 1!
The U.P.'s 7 million acres of forest along the shores of three different Great Lakes make it ideal for scenic fall views.

USA Today points out that it's got 10 fall color routes that cover about 1,500 miles, so there are plenty of opportunities for colorful autumn drives.
According to uptravel.com, peak fall color season in the U.P. is usually the last week of September and the first two weeks of October.
Pure Michigan lists these six scenic stops in particular to check out fall colors:
- Tahquamenon Falls State Park in Paradise
- Fayette Historic State Park in Garden
- Threefold Vine Winery in Stephenson
- Kitch-iti-kipi in Manistique
- Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in Ononagon
- Brockway Mountain Drive in Copper Harbor
