What is a Bedbug?
Bedbugs are parasitic insects that are micro predators that feed on blood at night or whenever you sleep. Their bites can result in several health impacts including skin rashes, psychological effects, loss of sleep, and allergic symptoms.
Bedbugs are not known to spread disease but can be very annoying when trying to sleep. These little critters may cause itching and loss of sleep. Sometimes the itching can lead to excessive scratching that can sometimes increase the chance of a secondary skin infection.
What To Do if You Have Bedbugs in Your House
I don't know about you, but if I had that many bugs creeping around my bed that would freak me out. So what the heck do you do if you have a case of bedbugs?
Before you blow a bunch of money on an exterminator, there are some things you can do to get rid of bedbugs in the list below:
- Wash bedding, curtains, and clothing in hot water and dry them using the highest dryer setting.
- Put stuffed animals, shoes, and other items that can't be washed in the dryer and run it on high for 30 minutes or more.
- Use a stiff brush to scrub mattress seams to remove bedbugs and their eggs.
- Vacuum the bed and the entire room where the bedbugs were located.
