Lake Michigan has some great phenomenons happen over the years like the ice balls that show up every year, well this year its ice shards in Lake Michigan. The ice shards are being seen all over northern Lake Michigan as about half of the lake was still frozen in parts as of early March.

With Spring officially here and temperatures warming up, Mother Nature seems to alert of this and making Lake Michigan thaw. With the water thawing and the motion of the water underneath the ice it has pushed these sheets of ice to look like shards of glass. You can see more on the ice shards, here from MLive.

Not only is this happening in Lake Michigan but in Lake Superior as the water is colder there so the ice shards are even more cool to watch. Check it out below, note this video is from 2016.
