Ice Jam Causing Road Closures & Evacuations in Portland

There was some flooding yesterday that was caused by an ice jam along the Grand River and prompted evacuations and now it caused a bridge in Ionia County to close. The ice jam yesterday also prompted officials to evacuate about 50 people from nearby homes on water road.

Now with evacuations yesterday, Ionia County Central Dispatch posted on its Facebook page about 2 hours ago that a bridge over the Grand River is closed due to ice hitting it. Along with the bridge that is referenced below, the ice jam on the Grand River is also causing other bridges in the area to perhaps close or partially close. Ionia County representatives also are saying that Grand River Avenue between Kent and Water street is also closed. And they are telling others in the area to evacuate their homes and if you don't live in the area you will need to avoid it for a while as they work to break up the ice jam.
