Let’s start off with I really like the home décor that you can get at Meijer stores. So many good things, especially fitting for anyone who lives in Michigan and has state pride.

A Twitter user, Fitz Klug, posted a picture with four signs that he found while shopping at a local Meijer the other day. The problem is, two of the signs have got people talking; one because of what Michiganders are taught, and one because well, there are a few mistakes.

Let’s start off with the picture listing the Great Lakes, the picture has all the lakes listed but as

Superior

Michigan

Huron

Erie

Ontario

Which, technically IS all the Great Lakes, but the way Michiganders are taught the Great Lakes is by creating the Acronym H.O.M.E.S. So, the order should have read,

Huron

Ontario

Michigan

Erie

Superior

Ok, easy mistake, especially from someone not from the Great Lakes Region. Although, if you’re going to create art for that area, maybe do some research?

Speaking of research, not only do research but spellcheck as well.

The sign that is the state of Michigan, looks very colorful and fun. AND, it remembers to include the Upper Peninsula, so bonus points on getting that correct, but there are a few other issues.

Take a closer look. Lansing, our state capital is spelled "Lancing"… like we lance stuff medically, or we’re a village in England. Also, isn’t it LAKE Superior, not LIKE Superior?

And why is Grand Rapids represented by a deer and Kalamazoo is full of kale?

I like the idea, and again, glad they got the U.P. on there correctly, but you obviously don’t go here. (thanks ‘Mean Girls’)
