It was a fault in a power cable on Thursday that caused Michigan St University's campus to lose power yesterday morning. The power failure also caused 40 buildings to lose power Thursday morning.

The cause of power outage was cause of a cable near Wilson Road experienced an weird amount of electricity Thursday at 10am. The amount of the electricity caused the MSU power plant to slow down and pump out half of the electricity it usually does.

MSU supplies much of its own power through their power plant. Fortunately no equipment in the plant was damaged and the buildings that were affected had their power restored by 11:30 am. Some of the buildings that were affected were several residence halls and classrooms. Read more about the story from Lansing State Journal here.
