Holt students conducted a sit-in on Tuesday morning in response to the Holt Board of Education's Monday night decision to move seniors to the existing freshmen building, and move freshmen in with sophomores and juniors next year.

The board meeting was packed with students, parents and teachers who vocally opposed to the decision and hoped to force the board to abort the plan, but the board approved the change.

The board says the change will save the district $200,000 per year.

The sit-in ended with the board agreeing to a school officials and students-only meeting on Thursday evening, according to Board President, John Malatinsky.  He said no parents or media will be invited.  He also seemed to give a preview of the outcome of Thursday's meeting, that the change is happening and students will have to deal with it, saying "change is hard."
