A ham salad recall specifically just dropped in Michigan. The USDA just issued a warning about both Reser's Fine Foods Ham Salad and Molly's Kitchen Ham Salad, as they have been flagged due to Listeria contamination.
The Issues?
Aside from the presence of Listeria in the salads, the issue stems from the breadcrumbs, produced by Newly Weds Foods, which were recently recalled due to Listeria monocytogenes and used in these ready-to-eat products.
The Product Being Recalled
Reser's sold 12 oz plastic tubs with a Sell By date of Sept. 1, 2025.
Molly's Kitchen came in 5 lb tubs (typically food service) with a Sell By date of Aug. 31, 2025.
Have There Been An Illnesses?
As of right now, no illnesses have been reported yet because of the products. However, Listeria isn't something to take lightly, especially for pregnant women, the elderly, or those with a weakened immune system. The bacteria can survive and spread in the cold, so even your fridge isn't safe in that matter.
Michigan stores that have stocked these products have since pulled them, but if you did purchase the recalled items, you will want to check your fridge and throw the product out. Additionally, you can return them for a full refund at the place of purchase. Even if you have consumed the product and haven't felt sick, you should still pitch the product.
