WILX.com is reporting that former Michigan State University President Lou Anna K. Simon will officially retire from the university, effective on August 31, 2019.

The news was announced by the university on Tuesday. Since stepping down as MSU President in January 2018, as Larry Nassar was being sentenced for his sexual abuse crimes, Simon has been a part of tenured faculty at the school.

With her official retirement, Simon will receive a total of $2.45 Million, delivered in three payments after August 31, 2019, January 1, 2020, and January 1, 2021. She will also hold the titles of president emeritus and faculty emeritus.

Simon is still waiting for an Eaton County judge to decide if there is sufficient evidence that she lied to police during the Nassar investigation process to send her to trial for those charges.
