Time flies when you're ready to have fun this summer and that does include 4th of July weekend celebrations.

Summer officially begins on Sunday June 20, and that's also the day we celebrate Dad on Father's Day.

Another day we all really enjoy is the 4th of July where we celebrate our country's birthday.

We all love going to see huge fireworks displays and even lighting some of our own fireworks in our own back yards.  But this year, things are looking just a little bit different when it comes to purchasing fireworks.

According to WILX:

Right now, many shelves are full, but that could change by the end of the month.  Stores across Mid-Michigan said they can't nearly as many fireworks as they normally would.

With several big fireworks shows being canceled this summer, that will open up doors to purchase more fireworks from some of our local stores.

I was at Meijer the other day and they had lots of packaged fireworks for sale.  I do remember last year how quickly they sold out at local stores.

WILX also adds:

Joseph said most of the price increases were for fireworks with larger displays.  That's because it costs more to ship those than the smaller fireworks.

At least for now you should be able to get packaged fireworks at some of our local stores until they eventually sell out.

Because of the fireworks shortage this year, some of the more well known pop-up fireworks stands will not be open.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
