Our friends over at WalletHub.com just published a list of the Best and Worst Small Cities to Live In, but sadly only 2 cities in Michigan were in the top 100, Troy and Royal Oak.

But, after scrolling through the list we noticed a couple of Michigan cities did make one of the articles "mini-lists".

5 Cities With Lowest Average Weekly Work Hours

  • 1st - East Lansing, MI
  • 2nd - West Lafayette, IN
  • 3rd (tied) - College Park, MD
  • 3rd (tied) - Rexburg, ID
  • 5th (tied) - Blacksburg, VA
  • 5th (tied) - Mount Pleasant, MI

OK, so East Lansing and Mount Pleasant residents have some of the lowest average weekly work hours of any people in the country.  At first glance, you might think or man look at those lazy Spartans and Chippewas but look at the rest of the cities...  They are all college towns.  That makes sense because most college students don't have fulltime jobs and professors don't usually work 40 hours a week either.

And if those cities have the lowest average weekly work hours, here are the 5 cities with the highest.

5 Cities With Highest Average Weekly Work Hours

  • 1st - Fort Hood, TX
  • 2nd - Jacksonville, NC
  • 3rd - Twentynine Palms, CA
  • 4th - Hoboken, NJ
  • 5th - Bremerton, WA
