The new Downtown Lansing Park, called Rotary Park, which is a new sandy park right off the river starts construction today. According to WILX, Lansing will be holding a groundbreaking ceremony for the beginning of construction at Rotary Park at 2:30 p.m on Tuesday April 23rd. As the construction starts today they hope for the park to be open in August so that people can enjoy the sun and the beach in Downtown Lansing this summer.

Rotary Park will stretch from the Lansing Center to the Shiawassee Street bridge. This park will have a summery feel as it will have a sandy beach as well as feature a patio area, fireplace, and lighted forest. The park will give another element to downtown as well as a start to the overall changes coming to Downtown Lansing on the riverfront.
