Starting April 2nd, there are some new laws for children safety that will be going into effect, to help protect Michigan Children.
Infants and Toddlers (0-2 years):
This is a slight change from the previous laws, which required rear-facing seats till the age of one. Now, infants and toddlers will have to be rear-facing till the age of two, or until they outgrow the manufacturer's weight or height limits.

Young Children (2-5 years):
Now, between the ages of two and five, children can transition to forward-facing car seats, with a harness system, or until they outgrow the manufacturer's weight or height limits. The previous law, required forward facing till the age of four.
Older Children (5-8 years):
Between the ages of 5-8 years old, children should be using a belt-positioning booster seat, with both lap and shoulder belts until the age of 8. If they are taller than 4 feet 9 inches, this may no longer apply to them.
Preteens (Under 13 years):
Anyone under the age of 8-13 years old, are required to ride in the rear seat of any vehicle, unless one is not available.
These new laws come after studies were done to help keep your young ones safe. Not following these new laws, could cause you massive fines.
