Jim Olson, Avelo’s head of brand and communications, explained, “Unfortunately, the LAN-MCO route was not profitable, and we do not expect it to be within a reasonable time horizon”
Avelo first started offering service to Lansing back in October 2022, with twice-weekly flights to Orlando. On the bright side, Lansing isn’t left entirely in the no fly list here. Capital Region Airport Authority President and CEO Nicole Noll-Williams assured travelers that Breeze Airways is stepping in to fill the gap. Breeze will now offer non-stop service to both Orlando and Fort Myers, Florida
Still, Lansing Mayor Andy Schor wasn’t thrilled, calling the departure “tremendously disappointing.” He added, “Lansing continues to offer so many other daily flights, and I have faith in our airport leadership that they will do everything to search for carriers to offer direct flights and provide the best options for the capital area”
