The Michigan-based company AAA are expecting plenty of traveling over the Thanksgiving Holiday and the most in the last 10 years. Earlier this week, AAA told Associated Press that more than 1.5 million people in Michigan will travel 50 miles or more from home this Thanksgiving holiday

If AAA is right it would mean the most travelers since 2007 and a 2 percent increase from last year. Nationally, AAA projects that 48.7 million Americans will journey 50 miles or more from home this Thanksgiving.

Also with lower gas prices, most of us in the Lansing-Area are seeing prices $2.10 or less for a gallon of gas, this means more people will fill up and give their travel plans a shot. The Thanksgiving holiday travel period this year is Nov. 23-27. The most popular travel dates are the Wednesday 11/23 and Sunday 11/27 so if you have to travel for the holiday avoid those two days and the traffic that comes with it.
