The high levels of inflation are not doing anyone any favors. The start of the holiday shopping season kicks off in just a couple of weeks. It is a tough year for extra money to spend on gifts. If you have kids, their lists are filled with high dollar items. Playstation Fives are not cheap. These days nothing is.

"It's the thought that counts," is a saying that will most likely mean more this year. A lot of people are giving used gifts this year. Instead of Amazon and the construction braving trip to the Meridian Mall, people are turning to Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. The latter would scare me. There is a lot of evil lurking on Craigslist and this is a terrible time to be scammed out of money.

Still, used gifts are not bad. Especially if you are on a budget. If it comes from the heart, that is what matters. The sad truth is, people do have stuff that they have bought and barely used. Why not give, "Like New," instead of, "Brand New." It isn't about what other people think, but it is more socially acceptable now than ever.

Retail has seen better days. Malls are not as packed as they used to be. It was a struggle with increase online shopping and got worse with the pandemic. Still, if you are looking for that perfect, "Michigan Style," gift, check out this site.

Whether you are going used or new, be cautious. Theft is at an all time high this time of year. People also tend to get taken advantage of more this season than any other. Happy Holidays!
