Yes you read that right, a town that built on the money from Kitty Liter becomes a ghost town very quickly.

The story behind the "ghost town" is that was actually a town that existed before it remodeled into a western town. The "Ghost town" is Jones, Michigan located on Highways 60 & 40 and not at all hard to locate and is now basically a “ghost” town, although there are people living there. It’s 11 miles east of Cassopolis, 9 miles west of Three Rivers.

The man to create the "Ghost Town" was Edward Lowe, who was also the inventor of Kitty Litter and Tidy Cat. He took over this small town and turned some of the buildings and shops to look like a typical old west ghost town. The attraction never caught on, and Lowe eventually retired to live in the area and near by on Diamond Lake. Unfortunately, years later, there isn’t much left of his dream cowboy town except a building once known as the “Tumbleweed Saloon” (recently used as a chiropractic office) and some genuine old houses that still stand (see photos above). Yes, people live there but you can still travel down south Main Street and see where Lowe had his little western town.
