Toys “R” Us Closing Over 100 Stores

Toys "R" Us is going to be shutting down over 100 stores this year after sales have gone down due to competition. According to the Lansing State Journal, the Babies "R" Us on West Saginaw Highway near the Lansing Mall is slated to close this year as its parent company consolidates stores.

Toys "R" Us plans to close up to 182 stores across the country as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization plan.  The company filed for bankruptcy in September.

The Toys "R" Us store in Okemos was not listed among stores planned for closure.  Toys "R" Us operates 880 stores.  If 182 stores close, the company will lose about 6.9 million square feet of space.
