Tomorrow Is National Donut Day!

Tomorrow is going to be SWEET! Not only is tomorrow Friday (YAY! for the weekend), but it's also National Donut Day!

When I was researching National Donut Day, I learned it has a lot to do with service and volunteering than just donuts... National Donut Day got it's roots back during the time of WWI, when Salvation Army workers would serve coffee & donuts to soldiers in the trenches to help boost morale. Donut Day commemorates the "donut lassies" - the female Salvation Army volunteers providing the donuts. If you'd like to enjoy a deliciously deep-fried confection in honor of those ladies tomorrow, there are plenty of places that have the hookup!

Meijer has an "m-perks" offer for a free bakery donut with the purchase of another Meijer bakery item.

Krispy Kreme is giving out a free donut to anyone who stops by nationwide, with the exception of Connecticut... sorry guys. While no purchase is needed to score a delicious donut, Krispy Kreme encourages you to donate to the Salvation Army instead.
