The man suspected of robbing the PNC Bank branch in Okemos on Monday afternoon, leading to a high speed chase and standoff, has been identified as Michael Willingham, 43, of Flint.

Police suspected the man was Willingham while in pursuit but were unable to formally identify him at the scene because he was not carrying identification.

Police believe Willingham hung himself inside the deer blind in which he was holed up during the standoff with police.

The robbery took place shortly around 2pm on Monday afternoon in Okemos.  The standoff near Bancroft ended around 11pm when Michigan State Police made a tactical deployment that brought the deer blind down.

Departments from Bancroft, Durand, Corunna, Perry and Bath assisted the Shiawassee County Sheriff's Department.  The FBI was also called in to assist.
